Lemongrass

DESCRIPTION

The Lemongrass (Cymbopogon citratus) is a hardy, aromatic grass from the Poaceae family, widely used in Asian cooking, teas, and natural remedies. Originating from Southeast Asia, it thrives in Singapore’s tropical climate, growing best in full sun with fertile, well-drained soil. Lemongrass enjoys evenly moist conditions, needing watering around three times a week during hot weather, while rainfall alone often sustains it during wetter months. This plant is remarkably easy to care for, fast-growing, and brings a refreshing citrus fragrance to gardens and balconies. It loves sunlight, humidity, and space to spread, but dislikes soggy or compacted soil. Although not safe for pets to nibble on, lemongrass is a rewarding and practical addition to any tropical garden, serving both ornamental and culinary purposes.
