Unlike all other popular orchids, the Jewel Orchid is very distinct as this houseplant is valued more for its foliage than its flowers. This unusual orchid variety breaks the stereotypes for orchids as it grows in soil and likes the shade instead of full sun.Ā
Jewel Orchids are best known for their red and green textured leaves, with crystalline veins running through the leaves. They also produce small white or pale yellow flowers.Ā
Ludisia donāt like a lot of sun. In fact, too much sun exposure can wash out their distinctive leaf colours. They prefer the less harsh, medium, indirect light. The Jewel Orchid also loves a constantly moist soil. Watering it once a week will usually be enough moisture for the plant.
